Lusid Happy Hair

Salon quality hair at home is achievable with correct application of the right products. If you want optimal hair health, buy natural hair care products. The are many products in market that are not good for you. Many contain harsh chemicals that can have side effects on the body; some hair product can predispose one’s scalp to some diseases, skin allergies or even hair loss.

At Lusid, our products are made with organic ingredients and are also vegan friendly too. All off our Lusid products are free from silicones, parabens and harsh sulfates. It is our ingredients that set our products apart from other hair care products. We make sure that we use ingredients that nourish you hair based on your hair structure as not all hair is the same. Lusid is not only good for you but good for the planet too.

Here are a few ingredients to watch out for to ensure you are purchasing hair care products that are good for your hair happiness.

1) Stop using silicones

Silicone coats your hair shaft with a false shine that leaves behind a residue in your hair and scalp which weighs it down, blocks your hair follicles, dehydrates your hair and can cause hair loss.

2) Stop using parabens

Parabens can cause a number of problems for your hair including drying, irritating your scalp, fading your color, and even hair loss as they are easily absorbed through your skin and are harmful to your scalp.

3) Stop using harsh sulfates and use good sulfates (also known as non-sulfates)

  • Ammonia Laureth Sulphate.
  • Sodium Laureth Sulphate.
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulphate

Sulfates can strip moisture, leaving the hair dry and unhealthy. They may also make the scalp dry and prone to irritation. Aside from the possible drying effects, there is little risk to a person's health from using the right sulfates correctly to clean your scalp rather than lathering through your hair.

- Don't shampoo your hair - It's function is to clean your scalp not your hair! -

Sulfates are cleaning agents and are used in shampoos to clean the debris from your scalp. We recommend a double shampoo. Ensure to wet hair thoroughly before applying shampoo, don't use too much shampoo. Five bars strokes across the entire scalp is all you need. The first shampoo to remove the dirt and build up from your scalp and the second shampoo is to allow the nutrients to work to nourish your roots where there are growing cells. Focusing your  shampooing efforts entirely on the scalp. Massage the fingers into the lather to remove dirt, sebum, and build-up before a thorough rinse out.

For those with skin sensitives it is recommended to use a sulfate free shampoo however it is know that sulfate free shampoos struggle to do it's function of removing dirt from you scalp so you could try a gentle scalp scrub or exfoliator instead.

We also believe there is no reason for there to be harsh sulfates to be used in conditioner and styling products, but don't be fooled by non-sulfates like behentrimonium methosulfate. This non-sulfate, is derived from rapeseed oil which is more commonly know as canola oil. It is highly recommended for its effective detangling abilities as it's able to penetrate the hair shaft whilst remaining gentle on the hair and skin, without coating the scalp or causing build-up.

Lusid Detangling Leave-In Conditioner

We love it so much that we use it in our Lusid Detangling Leave-In Conditioner to help detangle, without weighing curls down. Conditioner should only be applied to your mid-lengths and hair ends. For those with straight hair it is recommend to brush your hair to help distribute natural oils from the root down. For those with curly hair it can be much more difficult for the natural oil produced at your root to travel down your hair shaft to keep hair ends conditioned so make sure you are using the right product to aid hydration.

We recommend our Lusid Red Conditioner Bar to hydrate extremely thirsty curls however if you have finer curls we recommend our Lusid Yellow Conditioner Bar for those with plentiful hair and our Lusid Green Conditioner Bar for those with finer hair or shorter curls. Non to mention our Lusid Blue Conditioner Bar for those with straight hair. Any of our Lusid bars can be used for co-washing and for the non wash days you can also try our Lusid Detangling Leave-In Conditioner for soft hydrated hair as you need it.
